Common Questions about Vacation Rental Homes

1.     What is your cancellation policy?
Confirmation (half of the rental amount) is due at booking.  After the reservation is confirmed it is non-refundable unless we are able to re-rent the property at no loss to the owner.  If we are able to re-rent the property at no loss to the owner, you will be charged a $250.00 administrative fee and the balance of your deposit (if any) will be returned to you.

2.     What methods of payment are accepted?
Confirmation of rental contract can be made by Master Card or Visa, personal check (more than 30 days in advance of arrival), cashier’s check, money order, travelers checks or cash.  Your remaining balance is due the day prior to your arrival. If we have a credit card on file, we will automatically charge this on that day. If you wish to change this method of payment, you will need to contact us with your alternate credit card before that time. If you wish to pay the remaining balance by check, we must receive it at least 30 days prior to your arrival. 

3.     Can we check in after hours?
After hours check-in is available.  Be sure to contact your reservationist for instructions prior to the day of your arrival.

4.     Do you allow pets?
Pets are allowed in select units only for a fee of $125.00.  Ask your reservationist for further details. If a pet is discovered in a non-pet unit you face the possibility of billing your on file credit card to collect additional monies needed to rid unit of fleas and smells associated with pets.

5.     Do you allow smoking?
ALL HOMES ARE NON-SMOKING. If you are caught smoking in a non-smoking unit you face the possibility of billing your on file credit card to collect additional monies needed to rid unit of smoke smell.

6.     Are linens, towels and house keeping provided? 
One (1) set of sheets, One  (1) bath towel and one (1) wash cloth are provided per person the unit sleeps, One (1) hand towel in each bathroom, for the length of your stay.  One (1) time maid service is included after your departure.  Costs are included in the rental; any extra items needed could incur additional costs. 

7.    Can we get to your area in the winter?
Roads are maintained as well as the weather permits.  You will need to be prepared when coming to a ski resort with 4-wheel drive, chains, or studded snow tires.  Chains can be purchased when you get into our area. 

8.     Where is the nearest grocery store?
On Beech Mountain there is Fred’s General Mercantile.  In Banner Elk you will find a Food Lion and a Lowe's Foods grocery store.  Those are about 15 minutes from Beech Mountain.

9.     Are there restaurants nearby?
On Beech Mountain you will find a variety of restaurants.  From a deli to fine dining and anything in between.  Ask your reservationist for a list of restaurants on Beech Mountain and in Banner Elk or visit our Local Area Guide on our website and look for the dining and shopping link.

10.  Is there access to a swimming pool?
The Beech Mountain Club has an outdoor swimming pool that is open Memorial Day - Labor Day. Most of our rental properties have Beech Mountain Club Membership, but not all.  If you want to use the Club facilities make sure to request a rental property with Club Membership.  With the purchase of an unaccompanied guest card you will have access to swimming pool, tennis, golf, fitness center and day camp (additional fees apply).  Ask your reservationist for further details. (summer time only)

11.     What are check-in and check-out times?
Check-in begins at 3:00pm.  Arrangements may be made for after hours check-in.  Check-out is at 10:00am.

12.     Is wood provided for the fireplace?
We will deliver wood to your rental unit (10 bundle minimum) for a fee of $60 with advance notice, or we sell bundles in the office for $5 each for you to pick up.  Please inquire in advance for availability. Gas is provided for all gas fireplaces.

13.     When do your rates change?
Our summer season rates run (approximately) March 15 – November 15.  Winter season rates run (approximately) November 15 – March 15.  Weather permitting.

14.     Is a shuttle service available?
We offer some vacation properties that are on the winter time shuttle route or within walking distance to the ski slope. Otherwise, you will need to provide your own transportation.

15.     Where do we rent ski equipment?
At check-in we will provide you with discount coupons for Alpine Ski Center and Beech Meadows Ski Shop. Both are located on the mountain. You will also find a selection of rentals available at Fred's General Mercantile and at Beech Mountain Resort. 

16.     What do I need to bring?
Summer time - Extra linens and towels, wash powders, dryer sheets, dish washing detergent, VCR/DVD (some provided), grill (some included), fan, camera, light jacket/sweater, toilet paper, paper towels, etc, personal toiletries, cell phone for long distance calling.
Winter time -  Extra linens and towels, wash powders, dryer sheets, dish washing detergent, VCR/DVD (some provided), warm winter coat, boots, gloves, scarf, camera, toilet paper, paper towels, etc, personal toiletries, cell phone for long distance calling.
